How many treatments do I need?
The average number of treatments needed to achieve 70-90% permanent hair removal is about 6-8 treatments. This number varies from person to person and among body parts.
Why do I have to wait so long between treatments?
Hair follicles transition through active and dormant stages and only about 30-50% of your hair is actively growing at any given time. With each treatment, we will cover the entire skin surface, but only those follicles that are “active” will be impacted. When a follicle is dormant, the laser light cannot be absorbed, and the follicle is left undamaged. We customize your treatment plan to ensure that we are matching your hair growth cycles and ensuring the best results possible for you.
Who is a good candidate for laser hair removal?
We can treat all skin colors and hair types. Laser hair removal is less effective on clients with red, blonde or grey hair, so we recommend that you come in for a consultation so that we can give you an accurate idea of what results you can expect.
How long does each treatment take?
Each body area can be completed in 20 minutes or less. Your appointment time will depend on how many areas we are treating that day. Since there is no downtime with laser hair removal, you can easily get your treatment on your lunch break and return to work immediately. We take care to make sure that we give you a thorough treatment, and that you get in and out of our clinic as efficiently as possible so you can get back to your busy schedule
How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?
Laser hair removal can be permanent if the hair follicle is completely destroyed. But if the hair follicle is just damaged rather than destroyed, the hair will eventually grow back. After undergoing six to eight laser hair removal treatments, a person should be able to enjoy minimal hair regrowth for up to one year. If regrowth happens sometime between six to twelve months, touch-up treatments can be scheduled to manage the hair.
Are There Side Effects to Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a safe procedure that most people find relatively painless. There are some minor side effects that could arise after hair removal, including redness, crusting of the skin, or slight changes in skin color on the treated area. All side effects are temporary and should not bring too much discomfort. If you have a qualified, experienced technician, side effects should be minimal.
What can I expect during laser hair removal treatment?
Treatments take place in your practitioner’s office. Your practitioner will use a small handpiece to deliver an intense but gentle burst of energy onto targeted areas of the skin. Therapeutic heat removes unwanted hair.
Is Gentle Hair Removal suitable for darker skin tones?
Yes! Other laser hair removal treatments don’t cater to all skin types, but there’s a Gentle Hair Removal treatment that’s right for you, no matter what your skin tone. Talk to your practitioner about which Gentle treatment is right for you.
Is Gentle laser hair removal painful?
Some patients may feel slight discomfort, which has been compared to snapping a rubber band against the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by our patented Dynamic Cooling Device. Be sure and talk this over with your practitioner.
Are these treatments covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures. Consult your insurance carrier for conclusive information.
Are there side effects?
Permanent side effects are rare and may include redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and purpura (laser bruise) in the treated area—these usually do not last more than a few days. Your practitioner will have more information about potential side effects.
